I went with a client to an invitation only jewelry show at the swankiest department store. They literally had a rope cordoning it off. Things I saw- necklaces encrusted with beetle wings, original Verdura cuffs, titanium rings from the future that were made by a zen master, and more shiny, sparkling things than I've ever seen in one day. The concept of jewelry stretched to beyond the imagination. Even if you are not a connoisseur of jewelry you could not fail to see the artistry, history, whimsy, precision and craft in these pieces.
Oh and then dinner at Scarpetta. The short ribs simply melted, and the spaghetti was wholly as advertised.
Of interest: This doesn't quite do justice to the work of Wallace Chan. Even the college student son of my client was blown away.
